Visitation with family present was from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, at Kale Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St., in Osceola. Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Bernard’s Catholic Church or Iowa Chapter of American Parkinson Disease Association. Online condolences may be left at www.kalefuneralhome.com.Mary Margaret Pedersen, daughter of Frank Burley and Cora (Walters) Burley, was born Feb. 18, 1927, in Grand River. Mary grew up in Beaconsfield, and graduated from Beaconsfield High School. When she was 16, Mary worked for the ammunitions plant in Wisconsin during WWII. She took her teachers training in Creston, and taught school near Liberty and the four-mile country school east of Osceola. In the summer, she worked in Dr. Stroy’s hospital as an aid.On Jan. 18, 1947, she married Gerald Pedersen at St. Bernard Catholic Church Rectory. Mary and Gerald purchased a farm east of Osceola, where they lived, worked and raised their family for 67 years.Mary was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, TTT Society, Altruistic Club, East Chapel Women’s Group, Alter Society, Clarke County Housing Board and Osceola Square Dance Club, “Dosey Does.” She was a 4-H leader, Catechism teacher, substitute teacher for country school and spent 25 years as a Weight Watchers lecturer. Over the years, she worked for Osceola Sentinel and Auto Assemblies in Murray.Mary is survived by her daughters, Diane (Wayne) Holst of Bettendorf and Pat Pedersen of Roseville, Minnesota; sons, Terry (Sandy) Pedersen of Altoona, David (Rita) Pedersen of Jefferson and Jon (Julie) Pedersen of Leon; grandchildren, Mindy Miller, Kerri (David) Bishop, Kody Pedersen, Paige (Chris) Hanson, Keith (Mary) Pedersen, Reed (Megan) Pedersen, Adam Pedersen, Preston (Emily) Pedersen, Peyton Pedersen and Cole Peder...
